I still don't have time to write anything, so here are a couple more pictures on more-or-less the same theme as the last couple posts...you don't need to have taken a Bible college/seminary textual criticism class to get these ones though. I didn't make the KJV1611 one, but it was a whole lot more clever (and had a bit more "bite") than the KJV one I made. Enjoy (or maybe not if you're a "KJV only" person).

Wow, great blog. I am starting at Asbury this fall. Where do you attend seminary. I will be bloging my journey, hope you'll stop by when you got a free second. God Bless You, Robin
Robin,
Thank-you. I am attending Baptist Bible Seminary in Clarks Summit PA. I've actually finished most of my class work (just a couple more papers to write to finish up my last two internet classes) and am about to start a 9 month internship as the final phase of my M.Div.
Once again, very funny!
Yeh, hilarous. The NIV, because, like, we're really meant to follow the work of two satanists called westcott and Hort.....
Will...
1. Westcott and Hort were Anglicans not Satanists (only a few strongly KJV-only sources make this unfounded claim)
2. ad hominem attacks carry little refutation power and are generally resorted to when there is no compelling evidence against the position itself
3. Westcott and Hort did influence text-critical principles, but no translation that I know of is actually based on the Westcott/Hort text
4. The Textus Receptus was very quickly compiled from a handful (6 if I remember correctly) of late manuscripts with little or no attempt at evaluation of their quality (even where they disagreed)
5. The differences between TR, Majority Text, and Critical Text are mostly very small...seldom effecting how a given verse is interpreted and never how a given doctrine is interpreted.
6. These particular posters were a commentary mostly on translation theory not the underlying text (for that, see previous posts)
7. You upped the level here from a bit snarky/sarcastic to just plain vicious ... calling someone a Satanist is a pretty harsh accusation. Not cool.
#4 above is kind of out of place I guess since the comment I'm replying to doesn't specifically say that the TR (basis of the KJV) is the only true text...oh well...
