Well, it's been about a month since I posted anything. With most of my classes (7 credit hours' worth) being internet classes I have to do something like 15 postings per week to the various class sites, leaving not much time (or desire) to post anything here. However, the fall module break is here!!! All regular classes are suspended for four weeks of modules (a semester's-worth of class time crammed into one or two weeks), and since I'm not signed up for any modules this semester that means I have the month of October off!!! Woohoo!!! Now, every semester I say that I'm going to use the module break to get a jump on some of the big assignments like research papers . . . hasn't happened yet . . . we'll see about this time.
It's been a pretty interesting semester so far. There've been some especially interesting discussions in Church History. For example, why on EARTH do Christian organizations, schools, and churches use the club/team nickname "Crusaders" or refer to outreach events as "Crusades"? A large part of the crusades consisted of "Christian" (Roman Catholic) armies acting anything but Christian, including massacring Jewish and Muslim civilians. I mean, no respectable German children's club would call themselves "The Third Reich" . . .
Anyway, in other news, my brother-in-law Art just informed me that Robert Jordan, author of the "Wheel of Time" series died recently. I REALLY wanted to know how that series was going to end! You may remember from my previous post on fantasy that I HATE Robert Jordan's characters, but admire his complex world and storylines . . . I suppose I had kind of a morbid fascination to see if he could really manage to pull together the 5-10 storylines and dozens of prophecies with some sort of amazing conclusion . . . now we may never know. Of course, if I'm really lucky someone will just publish a rough outline of how he was going to end the series and I can get the conclusion without having to endure his obnoxious characters and dialogue!
And so ends my first post in a month . . . I know, it rambled over three mostly unrelated topics, but it's my blog and I'll ramble if I want too.
